Scope of Practise

Referral Process - Better Access

  • Your GP will assess your needs and prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), which allows you to access Medicare rebates for counselling sessions. This plan outlines your treatment goals and the number of sessions you're eligible for.

  • Ask your GP to address the referral directly to Kerianne. This ensures your paperwork is matched correctly and helps speed up the booking process once you reach out

  • Bring your referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan to your first session (or send a copy beforehand). This is required to claim your Medicare rebate.

  • Once your referral is received, Kerianne will get in touch with you directly to arrange a suitable time for your first appointment.

  • After a set number of sessions, a progress report is sent back to your referring GP, keeping them informed and helping determine if further sessions are needed.

What Kerrianne Offers

Everyone Kerrianne works with is different. She tailors her approach to each person — their goals, their history, their pace.

  • Sessions for one person, focused on what they want to work on. Together, Kerrianne and the client work out what’s going on and find practical ways forward.

    • 50 minutes per session

    • Ages 12 and above

  • These are structured, research-backed sessions that are partly funded through Medicare. To access Medicare rebates, a Mental Health Treatment Plan is needed from a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

    The tools Kerrianne uses include:

    • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) — helps identify and change thought patterns and behaviours that are getting in the way

    • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) — builds skills in managing big emotions, getting through hard moments, mindfulness and relationships

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — helps people figure out what matters to them and stop fighting thoughts that are pulling them down

    • Psycho-education — learning about how the mind and body work

    • Mindfulness

    • Relaxation strategies

    • Skills training

    • Interpersonal therapy — working on how someone relates to others

    • Exposure therapy — facing fears step by step

    • Problem solving

    Requires a Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician

  • Specialist help for people working through trauma, PTSD or family violence. Sessions go entirely at the client’s pace — Kerrianne will never push someone to go somewhere they’re not ready for.

    Note: Kerrianne DOES NOT offer marriage/couples therapy. Kerrianne works in a one-on-one setting and does not offer marriage/couples counselling in which both members of a couple are present.

  • Kerrianne provides professional supervision for social workers, mental health practitioners and other helping professionals seeking a supportive space for reflection, growth and professional development.

    Drawing on more than 15 years of experience across mental health, trauma, community health, family violence and hospital settings, Kerrianne offers supervision that is collaborative, reflective and grounded in real-world practice.

  • Servies will be charged as per current NDIS price guide

    • Report writing — $550 fixed fee, billed upfront. This covers gathering information, completing any screening tools, writing the report and supporting the client through the process. Reports are sent securely to the nominated specialist.

    • Talking with other professionals on the client’s behalf (with their permission) — $198 per hour

    • Professional supervision — $180 per 50 minutes

  • At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule — by phone or email

    Late cancellation (less than 24 hours): $95 fee

    No-show without notice: full session fee charged and no Medicare rebate

    If multiple appointments are missed or cancelled late, future appointments will need to be paid in full at the time of booking

What is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker?
